Da Nang Travel Guide 2026: Complete Visitor's Guide

The ultimate Da Nang travel guide: Ba Na Hills, Golden Bridge, My Khe Beach, Marble Mountains, the best food, hotels, and how to get there. Plan your perfect Da Nang trip.

Why Visit Da Nang?

Da Nang is Vietnam’s third-largest city and arguably the country’s most livable — a modern, clean, walkable coastal city with world-class beaches, mountains, and one of the best food scenes in Southeast Asia. Unlike Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang feels surprisingly relaxed for a major city.

What makes Da Nang special is its strategic location: 30 minutes from Hoi An Ancient Town, 2.5 hours from Hue Imperial City, and directly flanked by the Marble Mountains and Son Tra Peninsula. It’s the perfect base for exploring all of Central Vietnam.

The city has transformed dramatically since 2010 — international direct flights from South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and China now land here daily, and the tourism infrastructure is first-class. Whether you’re a backpacker or luxury traveler, Da Nang delivers.

🏛️ Top Attractions & Things To Do in Da Nang

Ba Na Hills & Golden Bridge

Distance from city: 25 km | Cable car ride: World record-holding (5,801m) | Entry: 700,000 VND ($28)

Ba Na Hills is the single most iconic attraction in Da Nang — a French hill station built at 1,487m elevation with its own micro-climate, beer garden, amusement park, and the world-famous Golden Bridge. The bridge, held by two giant stone hands rising from the mist, became a global viral sensation and is now one of Vietnam’s most photographed spots.

  • Take the world’s longest non-stop single-track cable car
  • Walk the Golden Bridge (Cầu Vàng) — best in morning light
  • Explore the French Village replica and Fantasy Park
  • Visit Le Jardin D’Amour — nine themed flower gardens
  • Try local wines produced on-site at the winery

Pro tip: Book cable car tickets online in advance during peak season (June–August). Go on weekdays to avoid crowds.

Marble Mountains (Ngũ Hành Sơn)

Distance: 8 km south | Entry: 40,000 VND | Duration: 1.5–2 hours

Five marble and limestone hills rising dramatically from the beach, each named after one of the five elements. Inside are Buddhist sanctuaries, pagodas, and natural caves with ancient carvings. The view from the top looks out over the entire Da Nang coastline.

  • Climb Thuy Son (Water Mountain) — the most accessible
  • Explore Huyen Khong Cave with its natural skylight
  • Watch marble carving artisans in workshops at the base
  • Take the elevator (15,000 VND) to skip the steep stairs

Dragon Bridge (Cầu Rồng)

Location: City center | Best time: Saturday & Sunday 9 PM

Da Nang’s iconic dragon-shaped bridge spans the Han River and breathes real fire and water every Saturday and Sunday night at 9 PM. A free spectacle that draws massive crowds — arrive early for a good viewing spot. The bridge is beautifully lit every night.

Son Tra Peninsula & Linh Ung Pagoda

Distance: 10 km northeast | Duration: Half day

A mountainous peninsula jutting into the sea with dense jungle, pristine beaches, and a 67-meter-tall white Lady Buddha statue visible from all over the city. The road around the peninsula offers stunning ocean views and is popular with motorbike riders.

Han Market & Night Markets

Da Nang’s traditional Han Market is the best place to buy local specialties — dried squid, rice paper, local noodles, and Vietnamese silk. The night market along the Han River banks (Bach Dang Street) runs nightly and features street food, local crafts, and live music.

🏖️ Da Nang Beaches

Da Nang’s 30km coastline is the city’s biggest asset — clean, wide, and far less crowded than Thai beaches of similar quality.

My Khe Beach — The Main Beach

Stretching 9 km, My Khe is Da Nang’s main beach and consistently rated among Asia’s best. Fine white sand, gentle waves (good for beginners), and a long strip of resorts, restaurants, and beach clubs alongside. Water sports including surfing, jet-skiing, and banana boat rides are available all along the strip.

Non Nuoc Beach

Located near the Marble Mountains and quieter than My Khe, Non Nuoc is favored by higher-end resorts including the Hyatt Regency and Furama. The waves here are stronger, better for surfing (October–March surf season).

Nam O Beach

A hidden local beach to the north, undeveloped and perfect for those wanting to escape the tourist crowds. Best for swimming May–August when the sea is calm.

🍜 Da Nang Food Guide

Da Nang has one of Vietnam’s most underrated food scenes. Central Vietnamese cuisine is distinctly different — bolder flavors, more chili, and unique dishes you won’t find elsewhere.

Must-Try Da Nang Dishes

  • Mì Quảng: Da Nang-style noodles with turmeric broth, pork, shrimp, peanuts, and rice crackers — THE dish of Central Vietnam
  • Bánh Xèo: Crispy sizzling crepe stuffed with pork, shrimp and bean sprouts, eaten wrapped in rice paper
  • Bún Mắm Nêm: Noodle soup with anchovy paste dipping sauce — intense, authentic, addictive
  • Da Nang Seafood: Fresh crab, prawn, and scallops grilled on the street by the beach — some of Vietnam’s freshest and cheapest
  • Bánh Tráng Cuốn Thịt Heo: Rice paper rolls with boiled pork belly and local herbs

Best Areas to Eat

Trần Phú Street (Seafood Row): The most famous seafood street in the city, packed with open-air restaurants grilling fresh catches every evening.

Bạch Đằng Street (Han River): Cocktail bars, restaurants, and cafes overlooking the Han River and Dragon Bridge.

Chợ Hàn (Han Market) food court: Upstairs in Han Market, local women run stalls serving authentic Central Vietnamese dishes at very low prices — best breakfast spot in the city.

🏨 Where To Stay in Da Nang

Beachfront (My Khe Beach Area)

The most popular area for tourists — staying beachfront means you can walk to the sand in minutes. Options range from budget guesthouses ($15–30/night) to 5-star resorts ($150–400/night). The main resort strip runs along Vo Nguyen Giap Street.

City Center (Han River Area)

Better for those who want to explore local life, street food, and the night market. More affordable, and you’re close to Da Nang’s best restaurants and cafes. A short taxi ride (10 minutes) to the beach.

Non Nuoc / Marble Mountain Area

Best for luxury resort stays — home to the Hyatt Regency Da Nang, Furama Resort, and InterContinental. Quieter beach, beautiful resort grounds, and a 5-minute drive to the Marble Mountains.

Price Ranges (per night)

  • Budget: $15–40 — guesthouses and small hotels near the beach
  • Mid-range: $50–120 — 3-4 star hotels, many with pools
  • Luxury: $150–500+ — beachfront resorts and 5-star properties

✈️ Getting To Da Nang

By Air — Da Nang International Airport (DAD)

Da Nang Airport is one of Vietnam’s busiest and best-connected. Direct international flights from: Seoul (2.5h), Singapore (1.5h), Bangkok (1.5h), Kuala Lumpur (2h), Tokyo (4.5h), and several Chinese cities. Domestic flights from Hanoi (1h15m) and Ho Chi Minh City (1h20m) run virtually every hour.

The airport is just 3 km from the city center — a taxi takes 10 minutes and costs around 100,000–150,000 VND ($4–6). Grab (Vietnam’s Uber) is reliable and cheaper.

By Train

Da Nang is on the Reunification Express line connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Scenic coastal journey from Hue (2.5h), Hanoi (14h overnight), and Ho Chi Minh City (16h overnight). Recommended for the Hue–Da Nang leg — one of Vietnam’s most beautiful train journeys through the Hai Van Pass.

By Bus / Sleeper Bus

Budget-friendly option. Limousine sleeper buses connect Da Nang to Hue (2h), Hanoi (12h), and Ho Chi Minh City (14h) daily. Companies like Phuong Trang (FUTA) and The Sinh Tourist are reliable.

🌤️ Best Time To Visit Da Nang

February – May (Peak Season ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)

The absolute best time to visit. Dry, sunny weather, temperatures 25–32°C, calm seas perfect for swimming and water sports. February also coincides with Tết (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) celebrations.

June – August (Summer)

Hot (35°C+) but still very popular — peak domestic tourism season because Vietnamese families vacation here in summer. Beaches at their best. Book accommodation 2–3 months in advance.

September – November (Rainy/Typhoon Season ⚠️)

Da Nang’s rainy season runs September–November. Heavy rainfall and occasional typhoons (October worst). Not ideal but prices drop significantly. Hoi An floods about 2–3 times per year during this period.

December – January

Cool (20–25°C), some rain but often pleasant. Good shoulder season with fewer crowds and good hotel deals. The sea can be rough for swimming but beach walks are still enjoyable.
